Youth participation

The importance of the participation of youth in the decisions taken in their respect is fully recognized internationally.

The White Paper on Youth Policies proposes a renewed cooperation framework in European youth policies, in order to guarantee that youth issues are included in sector, national or European policies.

The deepening of the actions for the participation of youth in political and social and civic intervention is essential.

The politicians in the European Union consider Youth as a priority.
The objectives of the Pact for Youth are to improve education, training, mobility, professional integration and social inclusion of European youth.

Its success depends upon the involvement of the interested parties: local, regional and national government authorities and juvenile associations, as well as the European Youth Forum and the social partners.

Nationally, youth organizations must be encouraged to take part in issues of youth policies, setting up clear frameworks for action.

Supports for membership drive must be complied with, and the means of youth participation in the determination of the policies which affect them must be taken seriously.

Youth are the essential resources for the continuing renewal of democratic societies.

• In the culture of solidarity and associative spirit, encouraging a healthy balance between individual competitiveness and collective solidarity, giving value to sharing and not facilitating negative values.
• In the critical and assertive culture of values of humanism, of freedom, of respect for the diverse, but equally of responsibility and demand.
• In the valuing of inter-generational solidarity as a means of assertion of national values and of training collective conscience.
