Christmas must be a time of Peace and Happiness.

In a world stamped by uncertainties and shocks, Christmas must also be a time to pause and reflect, a time during which we must remember those who most ned our solidarity: those that face difficulties in their personal and professional lives, those that live in loneliness or in poverty.

In this season the Portuguese are gathered with their Families, they seek the company of their dear ones, those that are nearer to them.

At the same time, we recall with longing – such a Portuguese nostalgia – those who are far away and those who have gone from us.

I also wish to leave a word of friendship to our Diaspora Communities, whose role I have so often emphasized throughout my mandates.

To all Portuguese and their Families we wish a Merry Christmas, with the quietness of hope, peace and happiness.
