The President of the Republic will decorate with several grades of the Portuguese Honorific Orders five individualities from the Madeira Autonomous Region who stood out in the fulfilment of regional and national public offices.

Decorations will be awarded to the former President of the Regional Government Dr. Alberto João Jardim (Grand Cross of the Military Order of Christ), to the former Speaker of the Regional Parliament Dr. Miguel Mendonça (Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator), to the former Secretary of State for Tourism Dr. Bernardo Trindade (Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator), to the former Deputy Speaker of the Regional Parliament Dr. Guilherme Silva (Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator), and to the former Member of the National Parliament Manuel Correia de Jesus (Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator).

The award ceremony will be held on Monday, 21 December, at 11:30 hours, in the Palace of Belém.
