At the beginning of his participation in the celebrations of the 20th Anniversary of Historical Portuguese Villages, the President of the Republic visited Almeida.

Received in Picadeiro d’El Rey (Royal Equestrian School) with a show by the Historical Reconstitution Group of Almeida Municipality, President Cavaco Silva unveiled an allusive plaque to the visit and toured the facilities having later on, still in the Bulwark of Our Lady of Brotas, visited the Almeida Historical Military Museum.
