The President of the Republic attended, in Lisbon, a performance of Irish music and poetry presented in his and Mrs. Cavaco Silva’s honour on the occasion of the State Visit to Portugal of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, and Mrs. Sabina Higgins.

The music was played by the trio “Socks in the Frying Pan” – guitar, accordion and violin, and poetry was recited by poetess Mary O’Malley, who had lectured in Lisbon University during several years.
