During his participation in the 70th General Meeting of the United Nations, the President of the Republic held a meeting with the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.

Later, President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended a reception hosted by the President of the United States and Mrs. Barack Obama in honour of the Heads of State and of Government present in New York on this occasion.
