The President of the Republic journeyed to the County of S. Brás de Alportel, where he visited a social aid institution, a cultural institution and a company which had introduced innovatory processes.

The presence of President Cavaco Silva in the county began in the Day Centre of the S. Brás de Alportel Holy Almshouse, whose facilities he visited and where he held contacts with the users.

The next stage of the visit was the S. Brás de Alportel Costume Museum where the President viewed some of the several exhibition centres.

The displacement to this county in the Algarve interior ended with a visit to the NovaCortiça Company which uses cork bark to produce fashion articles under the Pelcor label.
