Forestry preservation and innovation was a subject approached by the President of the Republic during the Route of the Innovatory Local Communities which took place in Beira Baixa.

The Presidential Route took in the Pinorval timber operation, the Palser Forestry Biomass Thermal Power Station, in Sertã, and the Forestry Live Science Centre, in Proença-a-Nova.
