Innovation in the Rural World was the centre of attention on the second day of the 2nd Campaign of the Route to Innovatory Communities, which the President of the Republic carried out in Beira Baixa.

The Interpretation Centre of the International Tagus Natural Park, in Castelo Branco, received the visit of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva, who later travelled to Idanha-a-Nova to become acquainted with the Continuos Care Hospital Dr. Aprígio Meireles, of the local Holy Almshouse, where the President addressed a message regarding the European Year against Poverty.

The Beira Baixa Cheese Producers Cooperative Society, the Fossil Route of the Naturtejo Geopark, in Penha Garcia, and the Janeiro de Cima Shale Village, in Fundão, were the next locations to be visited by the President.
