Beginning the 2nd Campaign of the Route to Innovatory Local Communities, which is being held in the province of Beira Baixa, the President of the Republic officially opened, in the Castelo Branco Industrial Park, the Agro-Food Technological Support Centre.

Later, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva visited two industrial units which incorporate technological innovation in their production processes. Danone, still in Castelo Branco, and then the Lusitana Factory, in Alcains.

Following his programme of contacts with examples of technological and managerial innovation in the agro-food industry, the President also visited the fruit production company BeiraBaga, in Alpedrinha, and Damar, in Fundão, a cheese production company.
