Upon receiving the sad news of the bereavement of Prof. Doctor Lúcio Craveiro da Silva, I wish to emphasize his important contribution for the development and projection of higher education in the North of Portugal. As an eminent academic, I especially want to highlight that he was also the first elected Chancellor of Minho University, and his passing away is a great loss to Portuguese culture. His great humanitarianism makes him a revered figure deserving of the admiration and respect of all who enjoyed his relationship.
