The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to King Juan Carlos, of Spain, concerning the consequences of the Murcia earthquakes.
Following is the text of the message of condolences addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"Majesty and my Dear Friend,
I was deeply disturbed and saddened when being advised of the tragic consequences of the earthquakes that ravaged the town of Lorca, in Murcia.
In this hour of suffering and mourning, our thoughts are with the People of Spain, particularly with the victims’ families and with all those who suffered irreparable losses, for whom we beg Your Majesty to communicate, on my behalf and on that of the People of Portugal, our most sincere condolences and feelings of fellowship.
