The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Colonel Vítor Alves.

Following is the text of the message of condolences sent by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

"Upon being informed of the passing away of Colonel Vítor Alves, I address the bereaved Family my deepest condolences.

A soldier of the April revolution, Vítor Alves distinguished himself as a fighter for freedom and as an officer in the Armed Forces who at all times defended the values of personal dignity and of dedication to his Country.
