The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of director Ruy Ferrão:

Following is the text of the message of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

"Upon being advised of the passing away of Ruy Ferrão, it is my duty to exalt the relevant services he rendered Portugal.

One of the television pioneers in our country, he ensured, as director, during 40 years, the most important missions of RTP - Rádio Televisão Portuguesa, specifically the broadcast of the Fátima ceremonies and the visits of Popes Paul VI and John Paul II.

Admired due to his outstanding human and professional qualities, his work was a model to be followed, thus providing a legacy that enriches RTP’s heritage.
