The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to King Juan Carlos I of Spain, regarding the award to Spain of the 2010 Football World Cup.

Following is the text of the President’s message:

"Majesty, Dear Friend,

In this time of joy for the People of Spain, I wish to address Your Majesty, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations for the success attained in the Football World Cup, an outstanding event for the history of Spanish sports.

Renewing y congratulations, I beg Your Majesty to accept my best wishes for your personal well being, and that of Her Majesty Queen Dona Sofia and of all the Royal Family, as well as my highest regards and personal esteem.
