The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Widow of cinema director José Maria Nunes 

Following is the text of the President’s message:

"It was with deep regret that I learned of the passing away of Mr. José Maria Nunes. I very recently had the occasion to pay tribute to his capabilities for achievement in the cultural field and to his contribution towards the relationship between Portugal and Spain and, particularly, with Catalonia.

I also recall, from that occasion, the signs of respect and deep affection from his many friends, in a clearly discernible demonstration of the human qualities of which his life was an example.

In this moment of sadness I beg you to accept, Madam, on behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, our feelings of deep regret and heartfelt condolences, extensive to all the mourning family.
