The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, with regard to the victims of the storms occurred in.

Following is the text of the message:

"Mister President,

Upon being advised of the tragic effects of the storms which devastated the French coast, I wish to convey to Your Excellency and to the People of France, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our deepest regrets and the expression of our heartfelt sympathy.

In this difficult moment, our thoughts lie with all the sufferers and very specially with all those who felt the loss of human lives, to whom we beg Your Excellency to convey our most sincere condolences.
