The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to Joana Vasconcelos, who won the Junior World K1 500 m Canoeing Championship.
 

Following is the text of the message:
 

"Advised of the victory you gained in Moscow, becoming the Junior World Champion in the K1 500 m Canoeing Competition, I want to congratulate you for the extraordinary sportsmanship you have shown and for the great endeavour that has characterized your path as an athlete, confirmed by the successive titles you have been awarded. This victory is a witness to the dedication and perseverance you have given to sports which are the best path towards success and a confirmation that Portugal is showing its potential to exploit other athletic events, and is becoming a country of excellence in sports.
Please accept my congratulations and sincere wishes for your personal and sports activities.
