The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Interim President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Dr. Raimundo Pereira, with respect to the passing away of former President Luís Cabral

Following is the text of the message:

"Mister President

It was with great regret that I received the news of the passing away of the first President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Luis Cabral.

Luis Cabral will be remembered by all as an outstanding figure of the History of Guinea Bissau, for whose independence and economic progress he battled.

In this hour of morning, I address Your Excellency, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our most sincere condolences, and would be grateful if you would present our deepest regrets to the grieving family.
