Following today’s announcement by the Holy See over the canonization of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, a ceremony which will be held on 26 April, in the Vatican, the President of the Republic expressed his satisfaction with the decision in a message reading as follows:

“The President of the Republic expresses his satisfaction, on behalf of Portugal, for the news of the decision which was taken today as to the canonization process of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, a major figure of our History which, in the past as at present, should inspire the Portuguese in their search for a better future.“
