The President of the Republic attended the 200th Solemn Changing of the Guard in the National Palace of Belém, carried out by the Presidential Squadron of the National Republican Guard.

After receiving military honours and hearing the National Anthem played by the GNR Band and Fanfare, outside the palace, President Cavaco Silva returned inside to the Boxwood Garden, from where he viewed the several stages of the ceremonial Solemn Changing of the Guard.

The assisting public was invited to visit he gardens of the National Palace of Belém and also viewed, from inside, the Solemn Changing of the Guard, a ceremony which was held for the 200th time.
