The President of the Republic visited, in Lousã Aerodrome, the refurbished and reequipped Forest Fire Research Laboratory, pertaining to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Coimbra University Faculty of Sciences and Technology.

After a presentation of the Laboratory’s activities, President Cavaco Silva viewed several demonstrations of the spread of forest fires and on their impact on forests, equipment and those that fight them.

Later, the President went to the National School for Firemen, where he viewed a presentation of this institution’s operation.
