On the occasion of his presence in Mozambique to attend the investiture of President Filipe Nyusi, the President of the Republic visited the Maputo Heart Institute, a health unit that cares mainly for needy Mozambican children and which resulted from a partnership between non-governmental organizations from Mozambique, Portugal, France, United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Portuguese NGO Cadeia da Esperança (“Chain of Hope”), headquartered in Coimbra, and several Portuguese cardiologists and surgeons collaborate with the Heart Institute, which also receives aid from Portuguese Cooperation.

President Cavaco Silva addressed a speech in the course of the visit.
