The President of the Republic met, in Dili, his East Timor counterpart Taur Matan Rauk, immediately upon his arrival in the Timorese capital to take part in the X Conference of Heads of State and of Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).

Prior to this, President Cavaco Silva had arrived at Nicolau Lobato International Airport, in Dili, where he was welcomed by the Timorese Minister of Education, Bendito dos Santos Freitas.
