President congratulated Criistiano Ronaldo on award of title of Best Player in Europe

Concerning the award of the UEFA title of Best Player in Europe in the 2013/2014 season to Cristiano Ronaldo, the President of the Republic sent a message of congratulations to the Portuguese soccer player.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“On behalf of all the Portuguese and in my own personal name, I am pleased to congratulate you upon having been awarded the title of Best Player in Europe in the 2013/2014 season with which you were distinguished.

This distinction rewards the superior level of sportsmanship you have shown during the 2013/2014 season and the steady drive you have placed in your course as a soccer player. You have also highly contributed to the valuing of sports in Portugal and to the international projection of our Country.

Please accept my congratulations and my sincere wishes for your personal wellbeing and sports activities.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
