President Cavaco Silva congratulates Nélson Évora, European Indoor Triple Jump Champion

The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to athlete Nélson Évora, who achieved the title of European triple jump champion in the athletic events being held in Prague.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“Having been advised that you have achieved the title of triple jump champion in the European Indoor Athletic Championship which is being held in Prague, I congratulate athlete Nélson Évora for the superior sports ability shown and for the drive that has marked his course and underlined his extraordinary career.

This reputable victory is, in particular, the result of a superior personal effort and clear proof that, along with perfected technique, dedication and perseverance are the best path for success in sports.

I congratulate you for this further notable rendering, which contributes towards the valuation of Portuguese athletics and for the prominence of sports in Portugal.

Please accept, on behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, my congratulations and sincere wishes for your personal and sports welfare.
