The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva will carry out an Official Visit to Austria, at the invitation of President Heinz Fischer, from 23 to 26 July, which will include the cities of Vienna and Salzburg.

On the day of arrival in Vienna, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva will meet members of the community of Austrians taken in by Portuguese families at the end of World War II, after which they will dine, in private, with the former Austrian Chancellor Franz Vranitsky and his Wife.

The programme of the Official Visit will include meetings with the President of the Republic of Austria, with Chancellor Werner Faymann and other notable Austrian authorities. In Salzburg, President and Mrs. Fischer will host a banquet in honour of President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva.

The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva will be the guests of honour of the Austrian President and Mrs. Heinz Fischer at the Salzburg Festival, which will be officially opened on 25 July.
