The President of the Republic addressed a message to his French counterpart, François Hollande, expressing his regrets and solidarity for today’s outrages in Paris.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“It was with deep anguish that I was faced with the news of the heinous terrorist attacks today, in Paris, and of the tragic loss of a great number of victims.

At this time of deep regret, I wish to transmit to Your Excellency, to the bereaved families and to all the people of the French Republic, on behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, our feelings of heartfelt sorrow and sincerest solidarity,

I beg you to accept, Mister President, my highest regards and personal esteem.
