President of the Republic congratulated Portuguese delegation to the I European Games, held in Baku

The President of the Republic sent a message of congratulations to the Portuguese delegation that took part in the I European Games, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“At the closure of the I European games, which were held in Baku, Azerbaijan, I want to congratulate the Portuguese delegation that, throughout 17 days, achieved brilliant sports performances.

More than 100 athletes performed magnificently in various types of sports with excellent results.

A total of 10 medals attributed – 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze – in so many different sports events are a motive of great pride for the Portuguese, who once again witnessed national sports being distinguished.

I thus congratulate all the athletes comprised in the Portuguese delegation, as well as trainers, managers, technical teams, the Portuguese Olympic Committee and the respective Sports Federations.

On behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, please accept our best wishes for your personal wellbeing and continued success in sports activities.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
