President Cavaco Silva sent condolences to the Family of António Sousa Gomes

The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of António Sousa Gomes.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon being advised of the passing away of Engineer António Sousa Gomes, I address the bereaved Family my deepest condolences.

A member of the Government at the very beginning of the Portuguese democratic regime and later a company director, António Sousa Gomes always stood out by his dedication to political causes and by the competence with which he exercised highly demanding offices.

António Sousa Gomes bequeaths, to all who had the privilege of his acquaintance, the memory of a citizen driven towards the development of his country, a rigorous professional and an individuality of rare dignity and uncommon moral stature.
