President of the Republic sent message to President Armando Guebuza on the National Day of Mozambique

The President of the Republic addressed a message to the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Armando Emílio Guebuza, on the occasion of the National Day of Mozambique.

Following is the text of the message sent by President Cavaco Silva:

“Mister President, Dear Friend,

On the occasion of the celebrations of the National Day of Mozambique, I am particularly pleased to address Your Excellency, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations and sincere wishes for the progress and prosperity of the Fraternal People of Mozambique.

I recall with great satisfaction our last meeting, in Lisbon, on the occasion of the I Portuguese-Mozambican Summit, a historical marker in the deepening and strengthening of the cooperation between Portugal and Mozambique, which has been dynamically projected in a strategic partnership between our two countries. I am certain we will jointly know how to enjoy the advantages of this new framework and provide still greater potential to the results achieved in the several fields where our interests lie.

Equally in the multilateral framework, especially in the context of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, Portugal and Mozambique have evidenced great affinity, which has much contributed towards the consolidation of our Community, as a body deserving of reference in the current world.

It is thus with great expectations that Portugal is anticipating the CPLP Maputo Summit, as well as Mozambique’s mandate at the head of the destinies of our Community, with the aim to strengthen CPLP’s strategic value.

Looking forward to or reencounter in Maputo, next month, I beg you to accept, Mister President and Dear Friend, my highest regards and personal esteem.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
