President congratulate National Football Team upon achieving qualification for the EURO 2012 semi-finals

The President of the Republic addressed a message to the Portuguese Football Federation congratulating the National Team for having achieved qualification for the semi-finals of the Euro 2012 European Championship.

Following is the text of the message of congratulations sent by President Cavaco Silva:

“On the occasion of their qualification for the semi-finals of the European Football Championship, I want to congratulate the National Team for the result achieved, a reason for the joy and pride of Portugal and the Portuguese.

By demonstrating sportsmanship, determination and the will to win, the members of our National Team once again proved that, in the more difficult moments, the Portuguese wax greater and overcome the difficult challenges placed before them.

To the players, technical team and officers of the Portuguese Football Federation, I wish they continue, in the next stage of the EURO 2012, the successes already reached, which dignify Portuguese football and contribute towards the country’s international projection.
