The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Maestro Pedro Osório

Following is the text of the message sent by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

“Upon being advised of the passing away of maestro and composer Pedro Osório, I want to underline the relevance which, with the recognized quality of his work, he assumed in the valuing of Portuguese music since the sixties. Throughout his career he worked with outstanding names in Portuguese singing and, for this reason, became a prime figure in our country’s musical scenery. As a citizen he was equally interested in public causes. His life’s path was deserving of several distinctions. On 25 April 2011 I had the honour to decorate him with the rank of Commander of the Order of Freedom. In this moment of distress I address his Family my heartfelt condolences.
