The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Eng. João Maria de Oliveira Martins.
Following is the text of the message sent by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

“Upon being advised of the passing away of Eng. João Maria de Oliveira Martins I address the bereaved Family my most sincere condolences.

A chartered engineer, João Maria de Oliveira Martins stood out in Portuguese public life as a government member and a professional in management that, due to his expertise, wisdom and principles, left with all his acquaintances a very deep trace. We longingly recall his presence as a model of citizenry and a public figure totally dedicated to his Country.
