The President of the Republic decorated eight former members of Governments with the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator.

Those receiving awards were former Ministers Álvaro Miguel Rodrigues dos Santos Pereira, António José de Castro Bagão Félix, Luís Manuel Moreira de Campos e Cunha, Maria de Lurdes Reis Rodrigues, Nuno Paulo de Sousa Arrobas Crato, Paulo José de Ribeiro Moita de Macedo, Rui Carlos Pereira and Vítor Louçã Rabaça Gaspar.

The award ceremony was held in the Palace of Belém, after which President Cavaco Silva delivered an address.
